USMB-AYP-844BP_01

The USA Mower Blades line up is always expanding. The newest mower blade to be added is the USMB-AYP-844BP. The 844BP is a toothed mower blade and part of the Eagle Series line up. Eagle Series Blades, exclusively from USA Mower Blades, are the ultimate 3-in-1 blade and are designed and manufactured for commercial use. These toothed blades can bag, side-discharge, or mulch grass clippings with a higher efficiency than standard, non-toothed blades.

Toothed lawn mower blades are 3-in-1 blades designed for discharge, bagging, and mulching. Toothed blades, while not always true mulching blades, are better for mulching than standard high-lift blades. Eagle Series Blades are toothed blades and are broken down into four categories depending on specifications: E6, E5, E4, and E3.

The 844BP is an E3 – Eagle Series Blade. E3 blades are the thinnest blades in the Eagle Series line but offer excellent durability and longevity. The trade-off for thickness is a discount on USA Mower Blades’ already low prices.

The 844BP will fit certain AYP®, Craftsman®, Husqvarna®, and Poulan® lawn mowers. Two (2) blades are required for 38-inch decks. This blade fits OEMs: 12784, 127842, 134148, 138497, 138970, 139774, 193957, 532134148, 532138497, 581116302, 532127842, 532134148, 532139774.

Don’t Mulch. Just Bag!

Posted on: October 18th, 2017 by usmb No Comments

leaves_aWith fall fast approaching, homeowners and lawn care professionals have two choices when it comes to dealing with leaves: mulch or bag. Mulching is an easy, economical choice but sometimes it is best to bag and remove the fallen leaves, especially when battling tree-borne diseases.

Tar spot fungus is a common tree-born disease that afflicts most maple trees (the exception being Japanese maples). Tar spot appears are large black dots on the maple leaves. The fungus will only affect the leaves of the tree, leaving the rest of the tree unharmed. The black spots are unsightly but will do little other damage. The fungus spreads through the air by spores that come off the fallen leaves. To stop the spread of Tar Spot, it is best to collect and remove all fallen leaves from the area. Leaves should be burned or removed completely. The fungus can survive the winter and will return in the spring in infected leaves are left on the ground, this includes mulched leaves.

The tar spot fungus has been wide-spread this in Northwest Ohio this year – where USA Mower Blades are manufactured. A unseasonable wet spring is the likely culprit. For home owners or lawn care professionals dealing with an infestation, the best defense is to simply pick up the leaves and transport them off site for destruction. USA Mower Blades with medium, high, or extra high lift are ideal for bagging leaves and grass clippings. Eagle Series Blades from USA Mower Blades are 3-in-1 blades that can also be used for bagging.

The Eagle Series Blades from USA Mower Blades are ideal for fall leaf clean up. Eagle Series Blades are high-quality toothed commercial lawn mower blades designed specifically for longevity and durability. These 3-in-1 toothed blades can bag, side-discharge, or mulch grass clippings with a higher efficiency than standard, non-toothed blades. Toothed blades, while not always true mulching blades, are better for mulching than standard high-lift blades. The blade teeth do not have a cutting edge but are used to create extra lift, propelling clippings high into the mower deck. When the grass clippings and leaves fall back down, they are cut again before being lifted back into the deck or falling onto the lawn. Eagle Series Blades are available for many of the most popular commercial mowers on the market.

If tar spot fungus is not an issue, consider mulching the leaves. The shredded leaves will decompose over the winter and provide a quick nutritional boost for the grass in the spring. For more information on mulching leaves, click here.

How to Measure a Lawn Mower Blade

Posted on: April 14th, 2017 by usmb No Comments

allmeasurments

Knowing how to properly measure a lawn mower blade will make it much easier to find the proper replacement. There are three major measurements to consider: length, width, and center hole. Other important measurements to note are thickness and distance between outer holes. Also take note of the center hole type and measurement.

LENGTH: Length is measured diagonally from one tip of the blade to the opposite tip of the blade. It is important to measure the length correctly. Measuring from end to end will result in the wrong blade length. All length measurements must be made diagonally.

WIDTH: The width of the blade should be measured at the widest and flattest part of the blade – typically near the center of the blade. The width can be measured normally from edge to edge.

CENTER HOLE: The center hole measurement will depend on the type of hole being used. There are several different types of center holes: round, fiveCenter Hole Graphic-point star, six-point star, seven-point star, rounded rectangle, and H-pattern also known as bow tie.

Round center holes should be measured for inner diameter. 5-point star, 6-point star, and 7-point star center holes will not have a measurement but will be denoted by name. H-pattern or bow tie center holes will also not have a measurement. H-pattern center holes will accommodate several different spindle types including 5-point star, 6-point star, or triangle spindles.

Rounded rectangle center holes will typically have two measurements, inner length and inner height. Most lawn mower blades will have round center holes.

Some blades will have an extra set of holes set to either side of the center hole. These outer holes are measured two different ways — individual diameter and the space between the holes. Measure the outer hole inner diameter the same way as a center hole. The correct way to measure the distance between outer holes is from the center of one hole to the center of the other hole.

Finding the Right Mower Blade

Posted on: January 20th, 2017 by usmb No Comments

Finding the right mower blade can be challenging. The problem with purchasing replacement lawn mower blades online is they all look the same. Not being able to pick up the new blade and compare it the old blade can be frustrating. That’s why USA Mower Blade is trying to take the guess work out of buying replacement blades. Need a new blade? Or three? Start here:

Original Equipment Manufacturer Number. The easiest way to find replacement lawn mower blades is with the OEM number. The OEM number is the numerical part number of the blade assigned by the manufacturer. In most cases, just typing this number with the manufacturer name into a search engine or online store will be enough to bring up some promising results. Don’t have the OEM number? Not to worry, it is easy to find. Check the manual that came with the mower.

Model Name and/or Number. Don’t have the OEM number or a manual? Manuals for most newer mowers can be found on the manufacturer’s website. Searching for the mower manufacturer and model number is an easy way to find the needed information.

Length and Center Hole. Without an OEM number, manufacturer name, or model number, it can be difficult, but not impossible, to find the right replacement lawn mower blade. There are two blade characteristics to look at: blade length and center hole design.

LAWN4The blade length should be measured diagonally from the opposite tip on each side. A blade that is too long will not fit under the deck while a blade that is too short will leave grass uncut. Finding the right blade length is very important.

The center hole is how the blade attaches to the spindle assembly under the mowing deck. There are several different types of center hole designs, including circle in various sizes, rounded rectangle, H-pattern, Y-pattern, and 5-point, 6-point, or 7-point star pattern. With the exact blade length and the correct center-hole pattern or size, it will be easy to identify the correct replacement lawn mower blade.
